Some DEV researchers work outside the large thematic clusters on issues that because of their topicality or novelty are leading. Examples include:
- the effects of Covid-19, for instance on income inequality in developing and emerging economies, and on elderly people in low and middle-income countries;
- the effects of China’s global expansion on Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa;
- and ‘what works’ for adolescent girls and boys in Ethiopia and Rwanda, Bangladesh and Nepal, Jordan and Lebanon in terms of fast-tracking social change.
